Background
Gun is a PhD candidate in MIT BCS, where he develops AI to enable personalized, accessible and preventative mental health support. This is motivated by his own experience with depression during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Recent work covers predicting individual treatment response to a smartphone-based mindfulness intervention (JMIR AI, 2026) using LLM few shot learning and benchmarking how well deployed safety systems recover clinically meaningful suicide risk severity (NLP4PI at EMNLP, 2026).
Gun is also an entrepreneur. He is the founder of Wondi.ai The venture is supported by MIT Sandbox and MIT HEALS Researcher 2 Entrepreneur (R2E) grant.
Outside of academia, Gun is an accomplished author. He has published five books and garnered 1M+ views on his Korean blog. He is also the founder of the STEM Vision Scholarship, Korea’s first college-run program offering financial aid and mentorship to underrepresented high school students.
