Background
Gun is a PhD student in the MIT BCS, where he focuses on developing advanced machine learning methods to support mental health, motivated by his own experience with depression during the COVID-19 pandemic. Before joining MIT, Gun worked as a machine learning developer at Seoul National University Hospital, developing diagnostic tool using patient data.
Outside of academia, Gun is an accomplished author—he has published four books and garnered 1M+ views on his Korean blog (https://brunch.co.kr/@geonahn). He is also the founder of the STEM Vision Scholarship (https://sites.google.com/mit.edu/gunahn/stem-outreach), Korea’s first college-run program offering financial aid and mentorship to underrepresented high school students.
