Investigating the Effects of Social Stress on Brain Imaging Study (SSBI)

The goal of the Social Stress on Brain Imaging (SSBI) Study is to implement neuroimaging to help us understand the effect of social stress on the brain. This study is conducted by researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH).

Experiencing stress during social interactions is a part of normal human experience. In this study, we will examine how a socially stressful situation impacts several different measures of stress in healthy adults. We hope that this research gives us better insight into how social stress may impact healthy individuals as well as those who may struggle with more atypical experiences of social distress (such as in social anxiety disorder).

Participation in the main study is possible only if you have been selected through an initial screening phase to become a participant in the research. The screening phase will include an online pre-screening questionnaire and a telephone clinical interview.

Participation: To participate, you must be between 18-55 years old and be able to have an MRI scan. You must also not be currently consuming any illicit substances.

Compensation

You will be compensated up to $260, receive a picture of your brain and contribute to scientific knowledge!
